Green Line Extension complete

This is more Somerville community news than direct Hub Comics news, but it still affects us, and makes the shop easier to visit, so we wanted to trumpet the announcement. You may recall that the E Line now comes to Union Square, just three blocks from Hub Comics. (We covered it — the first train, the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and how easy it is to walk to the shop from Union Square station — in our weekly video updates.)

This morning before 5am, the first Green Line train departed Tufts/Medford for Lechmere and beyond. That means the rest of the GLX, the MBTA Green Line Extension, is complete! In fact, five new Green Line stations opened today in Medford and Somerville!

Up until now, someone at Tufts could might walk to Davis Square and take the 87 train to one block within Hub Comics, but now they can take the E Line from Tufts, past Ball Square and Magoun Square, hop off at Gilman Square behind City Hall and the high school, and walk down the hill to Hub Comics! This is all good news for Somerville residents that nearly the entire city is within a 12-minute walk of a subway station. The T estimates the Medford branch will service 50,000 riders a day, and we invite all of them to shop Hub Comics!
