Local cartoonist Maris Wicks drew the wonderful graphic novel, Astronauts: Women on the Final Frontier (written by Jim Ottaviani), and it was set for a February 2020 debut. But you all know what happened in March 2020, and Wicks didn’t get to launch (ha!) the book as intended. And so Hub Comics has chosen Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm as our day and time to celebrate it, and this is your chance to attend an illuminating talk about this book and Wicks’ process!
Maris Wicks is the author and artist of two other non-fiction graphic novels: Human Body Theater and Science Comics: Coral Reefs. She also illustrated the graphic novel Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas (written by Jim Ottaviani); and the children’s books Dragon Bones (written by Sarah Glenn Marsh) and You and the Bowerbird (written by Maria Gianferrari).
Your $13 ticket gets you a signed copy of Astronauts, but seating is limited! Stop by the store, call (617) 718-0987, or email hubcomics [at] gmail [dot] com!
