A "pub crawl" with art supplies. Artists in cities throughout the world meet in one location, sketch whatever's around, then "crawl" to the next location. Local artist David Marshall leads the Cambridge crawl on Saturday July 11th 2009 from Central Square's The Middle East Restaurant. Please join us!

About SketchCrawl

Started by San Francisco artist Enrico Casarosa, SketchCrawl is a mobile drawing marathon. In his own words "a journal filled with details ranging from the all the coffee I drank to the different buses I took." Casarosa soon discovered it was even better with a group of artists. Now an international event, people from all over the world share their journals on an online forum. Lean more.

Comic Book History: Alex Toth Critiques Steve Rude

Since Mr. Toth never met a typewriter he ever liked, I keystroked Alex Toth Critiques Steve Rude this from his hand-written notes, as posted on the Concept Art forum. For the uninitiated, this is a Jonny Quest comic illustrated by Steve Rude. Accompanying the pages are even more pages of critique from Alex Toth, when Rude solicited his analysis. As well-rendered as Rude's pages are, Toth's volumes of advice all ring true. Even more interesting is the guidance he gives Rude in his final pages (plural!). Excellent reading for artists, and likely to be of interest to anyone invested in comics.
